HomeNotice BoardAug 18, 2007
1. Introduction:
Ah Bee's charter offers local day fishing trips to the Changi, Ubin, Tekong & Hyundai areas. Light tackle, inshore, shallow water bottom fishing at patch reefs, rock clusters, sunken kelongs & shallow wrecks. Ah Bee is one of the most experienced skippers in the Changi area and has been in the charter business for almost 20 years.

Target species include barramundi, fingermark snapper, grouper, grunters, javelins, diamond trevally, threadfin, queenfish, herring, cobia & the occasional triple tail.

2. Contact:

Ah Bee can be reached at 96168895
For bookings, slot availability & charter cost please contact Ah Bee directly on his mobile.

3. Tackle selection & bait:

Light tackle outfits are recommended. Ah Bee's spots are not in deep water, some spots are as shallow as 5m and the deepest spots will be slightly over 20m.

A) Hooks: Octopus hooks from size 1 to 4/0, most common size used would be 2/0, 3/0 & 4/0 for the big kims & snappers. Hooks must be razor sharp!
B) Rigs: One hook apollo/paternoster with say 20-25 cm snood, metal rangongs rarely used, running sinker rig with approx 2 foot leader can work wonders!
C) Sinkers: Sinker sizes range from J 1/2 to J 4. most common would be J 1, J 1.5, J 2. Running sinkers (SC #5).
D) Main line: Quality monofilament for shallow Changi waters, P-line is good (8lb to 12lb), other low stretch monofilaments (Sensithin) will do the job. If you like fireline (6lb to 10lb) then by all means use it but add a short length of shock leader.
E) Leader line: Leaders should be 40lb and above, Seaguar FC#14 or #16 is good. If using Du Pont leader then 25lb or 30lb should be sufficient. FC leader highly recommended. Use thicker leader for abrasion protection.
F) Reels: Baitcasters are recommended eg. Ambassadeur 1500Cs/2500Cs, 3500Cs/4500Cs. Similar sized Shimanos & Daiwas.
G) Rods: Baitcasting set up similar to G-loomis 623/723, 622/722, 724 or equivalent. Falcons quite popular.
H) Hand lines: Hand liners should use Du Pont 12lb or 15lb with hong kong hooks or similar running sinker set up.
I) Bait: Live prawns are the best! $40-$50 worth of prawns should suffice. Skipper will pick up bait enroute to fishing grounds. Can try frozen tamban and live milk fish.
J) Tip: Don't use heavy drag when fishing for big kims!
